EOLO2
is a very compact, robust, power saving aerating cum
agitating device extensively used in the aerobic biological
treatment of domestic and industrial effluents replacing
mechanical surface or floating aerators and dispersed
air aeration systems employing compressors and blowers.
EOLO2 is a submerged pump system that delivers its
output at the point of its submergence with introduction
of atmospheric air just prior to the delivery point.
In the process, infinite very fine micro-sized bubbles
get generated in the cone of deliverance in front
of the discharge nozzle. The oxygen of the air gets
dissolved in water at the air / Liquid interface.
Because of infinitely fine numerous bubbles, the surface
area of interface is far larger than other air dispersion
systems. The efficiency of dissolution thus increases
vis-à-vis other systems.
The
system works well with depths of aeration tanks from
0.5 m to 4.0 m. However, the best results are met
at a submergence of maximum 1.8 m. The system operates
by creating a high speed vortex through the propeller
rotation at 2800 rpm within the water. The vortex
induces a high level suction at atmospheric air through
the air intake pipe. The air is again diffused into
minute micro air bubbles by the propeller and is released
as bubble-mist with in the water body. The continuous
flow of micro bubbles at depths within the waste water
triggers a high efficiency oxygen transfer rate which
enforces a higher Dissolved Oxygen. This dissolved
oxygen inter-alia leads to its availability for utilization
by the bio-mass in reduction of BOD and COD.
EOLO2
has been successfully used in the following types
of effluents such as Dairies, Food Processing and
Beverages, Chem Dyes, Textiles. Sewage
In
the Aerobic Biological Treatment of Domestic and Trade
Effluents, mechanical method using surface aerators
and dispersed air aeration system employing compressed
or under pressure air have been prevalent for quite
some time.
The
primary aim being to force air and water (effluent)
meet face to face, provide an opportunity to oxygen
of the air to come in contact with the liquid face,
dissolve as molecular oxygen and be available to the
bacteria for the biological stabilization of the dissolved
organic matter in the effluent.
The
secondary aim has been to keep the entire mass agitated
to guard against any settlement of solids in the vessel.
The efficiency of the system in the dissolution of
the molecular oxygen depended on the total area of
air/water interface generated per unit time.
In
the case of blowing/compressed air system, it indirectly
depended on the type of air distribution and dispersion
(diffuser) system provided in the tank including the
size and distribution of the bubbles in the tank volume.
These systems by and large failed as a result of inability
to ensure homogeneous / constant air pressure in the
air distribution network and also due to either choking
of the pores of diffusers (porcelain make) or opening
of the pores of the diffusers (synthetic mats) due
to continuous use.
An
application of the submerged pump delivering its output
within the contents at the point of its submergence
with atmospheric air introduction just prior to the
delivery point has yielded excellent results in aeration
/ agitation of the contents of the tank. Infinite
very fine micro sized bubbles get generated in the
core of the deliverance in front of the nozzle. The
ultimate answer to effluent treatment by aeration
is offered by “ACQUA & Co. of Italy. All branches
of “Mahabal Enviro Engineers Pvt. Ltd.” have been
authorized to interact with the user representatives
for promotion of the system and for providing and
satisfying the user organization at• no extra cost.
The best dissolution of oxygen is achieved at submergence
of 1.0 to 1.5 m even in tanks with liquid depths of
3 m and above. The systems are installed in floating
mode with self supporting floats and are installed
at a downward inclination to dislodge even the settling
solids, thereby keeping the entire mass in suspension.
Four systems have been developed and under use. These
are nicknamed as ECO2, EOLO2, BRIO and RIO.
In
the present scenario, power saving is the major requirement.
It has been proved that the efficiency of the system
is more than three times than the standard best Surface
Aerators. The job normally carried out by a 5 H.P.
surface aerator is better done by a 1.2 H.P. EOLO2.
in addition to nearly 70% saving in Power Consumption
(task to task in comparison with surface aerators)
there are many other advantages of the system, such
as quick installation (less than one hour), light
weight (20 kg including floats), has 180°, operating
angle at any submergence, non-corrosive, robust and
available in a combination of effluent quality applications.
In addition to cutting down the operation costs to
a large extent due to about 60% savings in power consumption,
the units are low in maintenance costs and lost operating
time. Above all the capital costs are comparable with
conventional surface aeration systems.
